SASCO/NDT A Team for Success at Petco Park and Beyond...

Sasco
SASCO, electrical contractors and consultants to the construction industry, is currently performing the digital signage and audio pre-installation audit for Newport Digital Technologies at Petco Park, home to the San Diego Padres. The solution will create a cutting edge fan experience at one of Major League Baseball's premier stadiums. The largest electrical contractor in the western United States and one of the largest privately held contractors in the country, SASCO specializes in commercial preconstruction, and project management services.

In the past, SASCO has worked on similar projects at both Angel Stadium and Dodger Stadium, as well as major projects at Los Angeles International Airport, the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, and The Getty. They are well respected in the industry and definitely a key partner to helping NDT take a bite out of the digital signage market. Relationships like this will be what drives NDT to success.

Over the last few weeks, NDT's Sr. Managing Director, Richard Tanimoto has been working closely with SASCO to install a mobile, LED digital signage showroom at SASCO headquarters. The showroom will be available for NDT management to showcase live operating digital signage solutions to perspective clients. At the same time, the displays will be mobile for SASCO to take to their respective clients as well as NDT's. This is a great opportunity for customers to not only see the leading edge solutions NDT has to offer, but also become familiar with one of the premier electrical contractors in the country. The NDT/SASCO combo is a great opportunity to cultivate and expand new business.

Millions Will Experience NDT: Playing ball with the MLB

Padres_logo
Over the last 3 seasons, nearly 6.5 million fans have experienced Major League Baseball at Petco Park in San Diego. That's 13 million eyeballs which have gazed at the field and scanned the stadiums' atmosphere. Newport Digital Technologies is dedicated to not only enhancing the fan experience, but also introducing the world to vertical real estate.

Vertical real estate is the future of public and retail advertising and static sign killer.

What is a static sign? At a baseball stadium, a static sign is a billboard in the outfield terrace with a brand logo, such as an auto manufacturer, beverage company, or restaurant, etc. Logos are not changed until after the season, or remain for years, thus being static, non-moving.

Meet Newport Digital.

NDT proposed to replace nearly 90% of Petco Park's static signs and upgrading existing scoreboards, creating a "digital stadium." The fan experience will be second to none, and there will be a ton of advertising real estate. The door has opened for countless brands to be seen before massive audiences on a nightly basis.

Sporting arenas and stadiums are prime locations for this revenue builder because there are athletic events, concerts, and conventions all year round.

There are elements to the Petco Park job which will be groundbreaking and exclusive to the Padres. This is just one step forward for NDT as a viable LED digital signage provider. There will be many more steps forward as Newport Digital begins the journey to become a household name.

Thoughts on : 'The signs, They Are a-Changing'

I was asked via a request on twitter to give some thoughts concerning this article: The Signs, They Are a-Changing

First of all, great title with the Dylan play-on-words.  The signs really are a-Changing - pervadingour every panorama by the dozens, it feels.

Anyway, I really appreciate the way that your article skeptically examined the potential superfluity of digital signage implementation to a college campus, one which appears to currently provide an adequate dynamic conduit of news and means of wayfinding.  It was poignantly noted that the college of subject possessed a variety of campus newspapers, newsletters, class bulletins as well as several other means of conveyance.  So, why this addendum of pricey signage?  You mentioned it could connect the gap between sources.   Prospectively, the proper placement of these digital signs with a strategic dispatching of wayfinding and event information could promote a much more thorough communication to students, at what cost? Environmentally, energy profusion does pose some conflict here.  Even if the production of paper based news begins to recede, at what rate and at what ratio to the new expense of energy from the digital signs.  Obviously, to measure this ratio would be quite a project.  But we have to appreciate the lapse in transition from paper to digital and really understand what what generally fixed portion of paper digital is replacing paper.  So from an energy conservation / environmental standpoint, one must do a heap of due diligence to gain some sort of exactitude.  Consider, though, that many signs are beginning to integrate LCD to emit the light for the sign, which  conserves considerable energy.

Ultimately, digital signage is expensive. So, unless there has been thorough survey, speculation and planning on exactly how and where to implement these displays, the whole thing could be atremendous financial excess.  Much like your picture frame analogy.

Lastly,  I must mention, that the digital signage market is indeed growing rapidly, increasing by an average of 20% a year.  I see signs emerging in the most unexpected places these days, the numbers seem to be corroborated.

I really don't suspect that digital signs will completely replace all other forms of wayfinding and news dispatching, (just as music electronic automation innovation will most likely never replace the demand for live music) but I definitely foresee a drastic superseding of digital over paper, and other means of delivery,  in the years to come.  Thanks for deliberating your opinion on the matter.  It will be interesting to see what happens!

Tis the Season for a new sheen of Digital Signage

Real_see_through
Do you know what Christmas time is? Well, it's harvest time... for retailers.  In the weeks to come shopping malls, major retail chains and independent stores alike will experience the proverbial rush of frantic shoppers.  As much as each consumer might have definitive aim for a particular item, there is still much room within their pursuing minds for suggestive influence.

I'm talking about strategic and artistic digital signage implementation. Advertisers are on a constant mission to find the perfect means of delivering content without being intrusive to the customer.  We all know what beleaguering advertisements feel like when shopping with fixed intention for an item: It’s unwanted noise.  You're there to get what you're after without the solicitation from a screen and or speaker.  Fair enough, right?  Well, what if we became creative and delivered an artistic incentive through these screens.  What if we came up with a digital signage concoction that could be appreciated as a work of art by passing shoppers, and in a way sort of earn, the right to host an advertisement.

This is an ideal that NPDT holds to be an intrinsic basis for the optimum viewer experience.  Take an example with our Digital See-Through Display.  To start with, this display has a brilliant transparent image, which is an exciting variance from an average digital sign.  Now, the advantage here is that we can have something of eye-candy magic going on behind the See-Through Display, like a convivial scheme of colors or an appropriate design for the season, while the display is dispatching given content to support the brand.  This way you have a two-fold departure from an average screen that is simply emitting content for inattentive consumption.

Let us look at another creative way to optimize the use of a digital display.  Imagine a non-digital or static sign heading the entrance to or furnishing the interior of a major retail store.  Typically all you will see is the brand.  What we can do with a dynamic digital display is transitionally project interesting variations of the brand and, for the meat and potatoes, schedule something like promotions or seasonal content to fulfill the marketing side of the equation.

Now, it is absolutely of great import that an aesthetic foundation of a digital advertisement be compelling, but above all, the content must be cogent, purposeful and must jive with the themes we have expressed above.  Essentially, it is up to the content providers to work with retailers and advertisers to measure what it is shoppers most want to see and hear, but as the providers of the physical digital signage ware, we love to conceive of how the digital experience can best be executed as a whole process; from manufacturing to viewing in store.

There is a whole world of possibility within the digital signage realm.  So, this holiday season, keen your vision to the abundance of digital signage, which is spreading like wild fire in and out of stores around the world. Take a moment to conceive of a unique display creation of your own. See what inventive additions you can conceive of.  NPDT is looking forward to the opportunities to merge efforts with the string of the digital signage constituents and to contribute to the creation of a fanfare experience for the holiday masses and beyond.
